Call for Submissions for Winter Woods first Anthology
Winter Woods Publishing is thrilled to announce our first call for poetry, fiction, essay, art, and hybrid works submissions for an anthology to be printed September, 2026, titled: Mycelia: An anthology exploring planetary perception, human interaction, and radical reciprocity.

We seek up to three poems, flash fiction, short stories, essays, black and white artworks, or hybrid works that explore the vast, interconnected lives of humans and the earth.

We welcome any work that observes and questions the complex, woven relationship between human and planet. But we especially love musings, rants, ravings, and more about reciprocal relationships with our earth, as well as explorations of tangible, or imagined, examples of healthier human/planet partnerships.

Surprise us with unique pieces that bend and form new paths toward a world of environmental partnership, healing, and harmony.
We accept simultaneous submissions. However, please do withdraw your work if it is accepted elsewhere.

Previously published works are welcome; if you have retained rights to it. Please include a note of where your work first appeared.

While there is no word count limit for poetry, there is a page limit of no more than to two pages per poem. Please limit flash fiction to 1,000 words or less. Short stories and essays should not exceed 4,000 words. Black and white or gray-scale artwork only please. We strive to review and respond to submissions within three weeks.
Email your work in an attached file to: winterwoodspublishing@gmail.com.

Please note in the body of your email that it is for the “Mycelia” anthology. Also include a brief cover document containing the title of your piece(s), your contact information, and a brief author bio. DO NOT include any identifying information on your submission itself. Doing so will immediately disqualify your submission from consideration.

There is a $5 submission fee payable at the link below. Students are eligible to have the entry fee waved. (Note in your submission cover that are a student writer. We'd love to know where you are studying, too!)

Each entry fee covers 3 poems, or 3 flash pieces, or 1 short story, or 1 essay, or 1 piece of artwork.
Multiple submissions are welcome as long as the appropriate fee is paid. Please put: “Mycelia anthology” as well as your work’s title in the “what is this for” box. We will match your fee with your work before sending it along to our readers.

While we hope to one day to be able to offer monetary compensation for future submissions, as we are a young publishing house, we are unable pay at this time. Every penny of your submission fee goes directly toward reading, editing, and publishing costs.

However, if your piece(s) is chosen, you will receive a complimentary copy of the anthology, as well as a 25% discount off the retail price of any copies you choose to order. We also will provide individual publicity including a turn at being on a “Featured Author” page, as well as world-wide distribution of the anthology from Ingram (Winter Woods Publishing’s Distributor).

We look forward to reading your words!
